Indonesian Update from Beijing: When Chinese Journalists Gather to Enjoy Indonesian Cultural Offerings

On the afternoon of May 14, 2024, the Warisan Roemah Indonesia Restaurant in Beijing was bustling with activity. The event commenced with the melodious sounds of the gamelan playing "Manuk Dadali," a traditional song from West Java, accompanying a dance performed by Titik Parmuji, a lecturer in traditional Indonesian dance at the China Conservatory of Music (CCOM). This performance opened a media gathering attended by approximately 60 journalists from various Chinese online and offline media outlets.

The gathering served as a platform for the Indonesian government, through the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing, to strengthen relations with Chinese media representatives and to share the latest developments from Indonesia. Notable attendees included journalists from Global Times, cygn.com, and Li Shukun.

Indonesian Ambassador to China and Mongolia, Djauhari Oratmangun, expressed his appreciation to the media representatives for promoting Indonesia through their respective channels. He stated, "China will remain a strategic and important partner for Indonesia to accelerate sustainable and inclusive growth, including in the long term to support Indonesia's Vision 2045."

In addition to Ambassador Djauhari, updates on economic, investment, education, visa policies, and trade were presented in detail by the Head of Bank Indonesia's Representative Office in Beijing, Tutuk S.H. Cahyono, along with other technical attachés.

The Immigration Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing, Herawan Sukoaji, elaborated on Indonesia's latest Golden Visa policy. Speaking in Mandarin, Herawan highlighted the privileges available to Golden Visa holders, including opportunities for prospective investors in the new capital city, Nusantara.

The media gathering concluded with performances of traditional Indonesian dances and a luncheon featuring Indonesian cuisine tailored to Chinese tastes.
