  1. The application for transferring the status of Visit Stay to Limited Stay Permit shall be submitted since the Foreigner is in the Indonesian Territory.
  2. Transfer of Visit Stay Permit Status into a Limited Stay Permit may be granted to Foreigners who:
  • invests capital;
  • working as an expert;
  • carry out duties as a clergyman;
  • follow education and training;
  • conduct scientific research;
  • merge with the husband or wife of an Indonesian citizen;
  • merge with the husband or wife of a holder of a limited Stay Permit or Permanent Stay Permit;
  • merge with parents for foreign national children who have a family legal relationship with Indonesian citizen parents;
  • merge with parents holding a limited Stay Permit or Permanent Stay Permit for children under 18 (eighteen) years old and unmarried;
  • based on the grounds of expediency for public welfare and/or humanity after obtaining the Minister's consideration;
  • in order to regain the citizenship of the Republic of Indonesia based on the provisions of laws and regulations; and/or
  • elderly foreign tourists.
  1. For Foreigners in the context of investment, working as experts and performing duties as clergy, attach the following requirements:
  • Guarantee letter from the Guarantor;
  • Valid and still valid national passport along with its photocopy;
  • domicile certificate;
  • recommendation letter from the relevant ministry or non-ministerial government agency;
  • Plan for the Use of Foreign Workers (RPTKA) from the authorized agency;
  1. For Foreigners in order to follow education and training, and conduct scientific research, attach the following requirements:
  • Guarantee letter from the Guarantor;
  • A valid national passport and its photocopy;
  • domicile certificate; recommendation letter from the relevant ministry or non-ministerial government agency;
  • recommendation for the purpose of study/research from the authorized agency (Ministry of Education /LIPI);
  1. For children who at the time of birth in the Indonesian Territory the father and/or mother is a holder of a limited Stay Permit, attach the following requirements:
  • Guarantee letter from the Guarantor;
  • valid national passport and its photocopy;
  • photocopy of birth certificate;
  • photocopy of marriage certificate or marriage book of parents;
  • photocopy of valid and still valid national passport of the father and/or mother;
  • photocopy of valid limited Stay Permit of the father and/or mother.
  1. For Foreigners who are legally married to Indonesian citizens, attach the following requirements:
  • valid passport of nationality and still valid along with its photocopy;
  • application letter from husband or wife who is an Indonesian citizen;
  • domicile certificate;
  • photocopy of marriage certificate or marriage book;
  • photocopy of proof of marriage reporting letter from the civil registry office for marriages held abroad;
  • photocopy of valid identity card of husband or wife who is an Indonesian citizen;
  • photocopy of family card of husband or wife who is an Indonesian citizen.
  1. For children of foreigners legally married to Indonesian citizens, attach the following requirements:
  • valid passport of the nationality and still valid along with its photocopy;
  • application letter from Indonesian citizen father and/or mother;
  • domicile certificate;
  • photocopy of birth certificate;
  • photocopy of marriage certificate or marriage book of parents;
  • a photocopy of the valid identity card of the Indonesian citizen father or mother;
  • photocopy of the family card of the father or mother who is an Indonesian citizen.
  1. For Foreigner who joins the husband or wife of a limited Stay Permit holder, attach the following requirements:
  • valid passport of the nationality and still valid along with its photocopy;
  • guarantee letter from the guarantor; domicile certificate;
  • photocopy of marriage certificate or marriage book;
  • photocopy of limited Stay Permit of husband or wife.
  1. For children with foreign nationality who join themselves with an Indonesian citizen father and/or mother, attach the following requirements:
  • a valid passport of the nationality and still valid along with a photocopy;
  • application letter from the Indonesian citizen father and/or mother;
  • letter of guarantee from the Guarantor; domicile certificate;
  • birth certificate;
  • photocopy of marriage certificate or marriage book of parents;
  • photocopy of identity card of the father and/or mother who are Indonesian citizens that is still valid;
  • photocopy of the family card of the father and/or mother who are Indonesian citizens;
  1. For children under 18 (eighteen) years old and unmarried who join the father and/or mother holding a limited Stay Permit or Permanent Stay Permit, attach the following requirements:
  • A valid and still valid national passport along with its photocopy;
  • letter of guarantee from the Guarantor;
  • domicile certificate; photocopy of birth certificate;
  • photocopy of marriage certificate or marriage book of parents;
  • photocopy of valid and still valid national passport of the father and/or mother;
  • photocopy of valid and still valid limited Stay Permit of the father and/or mother.
  1. For foreigners who are former Indonesian citizens, attach the following requirements:
  • A valid and still valid passport of nationality along with its photocopy;
  • guarantee letter from the guarantor;
  • domicile certificate;
  • evidence that shows that he/she has been an Indonesian citizen.
  1. For foreign elderly travelers, attach the following requirements:
  • valid passport of the nationality and still valid along with its photocopy;
  • letter of guarantee from the guarantor;
  • domicile certificate;
  • letter of sponsorship from a Travel Agency appointed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

  1. Transfer of Status from Limited Stay Permit to Permanent Stay Permit is granted to foreigners as:
  • clergy;
  • worker;
  • investors;
  • foreign elderly travelers;
  • join themselves with the husband or wife of a Permanent Residence Permit holder;
  • merge with parents of Permanent Residence Permit holders for children under 18 (eighteen) years old and unmarried; and
  • former Indonesian citizen.
  1. Transfer of limited Stay Permit status to Permanent Stay Permit can also be granted to Foreigners:
  • merge with the husband or wife of an Indonesian citizen whose marriage age has reached at least 2 (two) years;
  • merge with the father and/or mother of a foreign national child who has a family legal relationship with an Indonesian citizen father and/or mother;
  • and children under 18 (eighteen) years old and unmarried of Foreigners who are legally married to Indonesian citizens.
  1. The transfer of limited Stay Permit status into Permanent Stay Permit for Foreigners as clergy, workers, investors, and foreign elderly tourists is granted provided that the Foreigner concerned has been in the Indonesian Territory for at least 3 (three) consecutive years from the date of granting the limited Stay Permit. 
  2. For foreigners as clergy, workers and investors, must attach:
  • a valid and still valid national passport; photocopy of valid limited Stay Permit;
  • domicile certificate; integration statement signed by the person concerned;
  • and recommendations from relevant ministries or non-ministerial government agencies. 
  1. For foreign elderly travelers, attach the following requirements:
  • A valid national passport and its photocopy;
  • photocopy of valid limited Stay Permit;
  • guarantee letter from the guarantor;
  • domicile certificate;
  • integration statement that has been signed by the person concerned;
  • letter of sponsorship from a Travel Agency appointed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
  1. For foreigners who combine themselves with the husband/wife of a Permanent Residence Permit holder, attach the following requirements:
  • a valid and still valid national passport;
  • photocopy of valid limited Stay Permit;
  • domicile certificate;
  • integration statement that has been signed by the person concerned guarantee letter from the guarantor;
  • photocopy of marriage certificate or marriage book;
  • photocopy of valid national passport of the husband and/or wife;
  • photocopy of husband and/or wife's Permanent Residence Permit that is still valid;
  • decision regarding the transfer of his/her status of residence permit.
  1. For children who will join themselves with parents holding a Permanent Residence Permit for children under 18 (eighteen) years old and unmarried, attach the following requirements:
  • a valid and still valid national passport;
  • photocopy of valid limited Stay Permit;
  • domicile certificate; integration statement that has been signed by the person concerned guarantee letter from the guarantor;
  • photocopy of birth certificate;
  • photocopy of marriage certificate or marriage book of parents;
  • photocopy of valid passport of the father and/or mother;
  • photocopy of valid Permanent Residence Permit of the father and/or mother.
  1. For the husband or wife of a foreign national who joins with the wife or husband of an Indonesian citizen, must attach:
  • a valid national passport; photocopy of valid limited Stay Permit;
  • certificate of domicile;
  • a statement of integration that has been signed by the person concerned;
  • application letter from the Indonesian citizen husband or wife;
  • photocopy of marriage certificate or marriage book;
  • photocopy of letter reporting marriage from the authorized agency for marriages held abroad;
  • photocopy of valid identity card of Indonesian citizen husband or wife;
  • photocopy of the family card of the husband or wife who is an Indonesian citizen;
  1. For children with foreign nationality from a legal marriage who join themselves with an Indonesian citizen father or mother, must attach:
  • a valid and still valid national passport;
  • photocopy of valid limited Stay Permit;
  • certificate of domicile;
  • integration statement signed by the person concerned;
  • application letter from the Indonesian citizen father or mother;
  • photocopy of marriage certificate or marriage book of parents;
  • photocopy of valid identity card of the father or mother who is an Indonesian citizen;
  • photocopy of the family card of the father or mother who is an Indonesian citizen.

  1. New application:

Application for a Visit Stay Permit for Foreigners who enter the Indonesian Territory with a visit Visa, attach:

  • Guarantee letter from the Guarantor when applying for a Visa; and
  • Valid and still valid passport.

Application for a visit Stay Permit for a child born in the Indonesian Territory from parents holding a visit Stay Permit is submitted by filling out the application form and attaching the requirements:

  • Passport of the child's nationality from the country's representative in Indonesia;
  • Birth certificate of the child from the hospital or birth certificate from the authorized official;
  • Copy of the passport of the parent's nationality; and
  • Copy of parents' visit Stay Permit.
  1. Application for extension

General Requirements, attach:

  • Application form.
  • Letter of request and guarantee from the Guarantor.
  • Original national passport and its photocopy which contains evidence of a valid and valid visit permit.
  • The second to fifth renewal application must attach proof of registration of foreigners from the Head of the Immigration Office or a designated Immigration Officer.
  • Not included in the preventive list.
  • Pay Immigration Fees in accordance with the provisions.

Special Requirements, attach:

  • Proof of guarantee in the form of return-ticket to return or continue traveling to another country.
  1. Visit Stay Permit for Foreigner who enters Indonesian territory with Visit Visa is granted by Immigration Officer at Immigration Checkpoints;
  2. Application for a Visit Stay Permit for a child born in the Indonesian Territory from parents holding a Visit Stay Permit is submitted to the Head of Immigration Office or a designated Immigration Officer at the Immigration Office whose working area includes the residence concerned;
  3. Extension of Visit Stay Permit is granted by the Head of Immigration Office whose working area covers the foreigner's residence;
  4. The extension of Visit Stay Permit is granted at most 5 (five) times consecutively with each extension for a period of 30 (thirty) days;
  5. The first and second extension of a Visit Stay Permit shall be executed by the Head of the Immigration Office;
  6. The third and fourth extension of the Visit Stay Permit shall be executed by the Head of the Immigration Office after obtaining the approval of the Head of the Regional Office of Kem. Law and Human Rights;
  7. The fifth extension of the Visit Stay Permit shall be executed by the Head of the Immigration Office after obtaining the approval of the Director General of Immigration;

  1. General Requirements, attach:
  • Application form;
  • Guarantee letter from the Guarantor, except for Foreigners who are legally married to Indonesian citizens;
  • Valid passport of nationality and still valid along with its photocopy.
  1. Special requirements:
    1. For Foreigners in the context of capital investment, working as experts and performing duties as clergy, attach the requirements:
  • Certificate of domicile;
  • Letter of recommendation from the relevant ministry or non-ministerial government agency;
  • Plan for the Use of Foreign Workers (RPTKA) from the authorized agency;
  • Valid entry mark.
  1. For Foreigners in order to follow education and training, and conduct scientific research, attach the requirements:

  1. For Foreigners who are legally married to Indonesian citizens, attach the following requirements:
  • application letter from husband or wife who is an Indonesian citizen; domicile certificate;
  • photocopy of marriage certificate or marriage book;
  • photocopy of proof of marriage reporting letter from the civil registry office for marriages held abroad;

  • valid Certificate of Entry. 
  1. For children with foreign nationality who join themselves with an Indonesian citizen father and/or mother, attach the following requirements:
  • application letter from Indonesian citizen father and/or mother;
  • domicile certificate;
  • birth certificate;
  • photocopy of marriage certificate or marriage book of parents;
  • photocopy of valid identity card of the Indonesian citizen father and/or mother;
  • photocopy of the family card of the father and/or mother who are Indonesian citizens;
  • valid Certificate of Entry.
  1. For children under 18 (eighteen) years of age and unmarried who join the father and/or mother holding a limited Stay Permit or Permanent Stay Permit, attach the following requirements:
  • guarantee letter from the Guarantor;
  • domicile certificate;
  • photocopy of birth certificate;
  • photocopy of marriage certificate or marriage book of parents;
  • photocopy of valid national passport of the father and/or mother;
  • photocopy of valid and still valid limited Stay Permit of the father and/or mother;
  • Valid Certificate of Entry.
  1. For foreigners who are former Indonesian citizens, attach the following requirements:
  • guarantee letter from the Guarantor;
  • domicile certificate;
  • evidence that shows having been an Indonesian citizen;
  • valid entry mark.
  1. For foreign elderly travelers, attach the following requirements: 
  • letter of guarantee from the Guarantor; domicile certificate;
  • sponsorship letter from a Travel Agency appointed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism;
  • A valid entry mark.
  1. For foreign skippers, crew members, or experts on board ships, floating devices, or installations operating in Indonesian waters and jurisdictions, attach the following requirements:
  • a letter of guarantee from the Guarantor;
  • a list of crew members signed by the skipper and acknowledged by the Immigration Officer at the Immigration Checkpoint;
  • photocopy of passport of the nationality that has been granted an Entry Mark; and
  • recommendation from the relevant ministry or non-ministerial government agency.
  1. Provisions regarding the requirements as referred to in points 1 and 2, also apply to the extension of a limited Stay Permit.
  2. In addition to fulfilling the requirements as referred to in point 1 and point 2, for the extension of the Limited Stay Permit must also attach the old Limited Stay Permit card.
  3. Application for Limited Stay Permit, submitted by Foreigner or Guarantor by filling out the application form and attaching the requirements that have been determined to the Head of Immigration Office or a designated Immigration Officer whose working area covers the Foreigner's residence.
  4. Application for Limited Stay Permit for Foreigners who enter the Indonesian Territory with a limited stay Visa must be submitted within a maximum period of 30 (thirty) days since the Entry Stamp is granted.
  5. In the event that the application for a limited Stay Permit is not submitted within the predetermined period, a fee shall be charged in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations.
  6. The extension of the Limited Stay Permit shall be granted by the Head of Immigration Office whose working area covers the foreigner's residence for a maximum period of 1 (one) year, and shall be granted for a maximum of 5 (five) consecutive times;
  7. The first and second extension shall be carried out by the Head of the Immigration Office after obtaining approval from the Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in this case the Head of the Immigration Division;
  8. The third to fifth extension shall be carried out by the Head of the Immigration Office after obtaining written approval from the Director General of Immigration through consideration of the Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in this case the Head of the Immigration Division.
