Frequently Asked Questions

  1. A valid identity card (KTP) or a certificate of moving abroad;
  2. Family card (KK);
  3. Documents such as birth certificate, marriage certificate, marriage book, diploma, or baptism letter*;
  4. Indonesian citizenship letter for foreigners who obtain Indonesian citizenship or submission of a statement to choose citizenship in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations;
  5. Letter of determination of name change (for those who have changed their name) from the authorized official.

*Notes:
Name, place and date of birth, and parents' names must appear on the document. If not, the applicant can attach a certificate from the authorized agency.

Children with limited dual nationality born before August 1, 2006

  1. If they have not yet applied for permanent registration, the child must have an immigration permit. This can be completed at the local immigration office.
  2. If you have made a permanent registration, the following points must be observed. 
  • The parent/guardian reports to the local immigration office with the passport and Ministerial Decree on the acquisition of limited dual nationality. 
  • The parent/guardian returns the immigration documents.
  • Children with dual nationality can be issued an Indonesian passport with a stamp in the passport as a child with dual nationality based on Law No. 12/2006 article 4 letters c, d, h, and l and article 5.
  • Children who have passports of other nationalities must attach an affidavit with a fee of Rp400,000. 

 

Children with limited dual nationality born after August 1, 2006.

  1. Children can be issued with a Travel Document of the Republic of Indonesia (DPRI) even if they have a foreign passport.
  2. The child can be issued a DPRI with a limited dual nationality stamp.
  3. Children who have passports of other nationalities must attach an affidavit at a cost of Rp400,000. 

 

The following immigration facilities are provided to children with limited dual nationality.

  1. Children who only have a foreign passport are exempted from visas, Stay Permits, and Re-entry Permits (IMK).
  2. The child is given an entry/departure mark as an Indonesian citizen.
  3. Children with two passports must choose to use one of their passports.
  4. Children are given a limited dual citizenship stamp on their Embarkation-Disembarkation Card (ED Card).
