Indonesian and Japanese Citizens Enthusiastically Welcome Indonesia Festival Fukuoka 2024

Fukuoka, Japan – The Indonesia Festival Fukuoka 2024, held at Tenjin Central Park on October 12-13, 2024, successfully attracted the attention of the public. Not only did Indonesian citizens residing in Japan attend, but local residents also warmly embraced the event. This festival was organized to celebrate Indonesia-Japan Friendship Day, featuring various programs aimed at introducing Indonesian culture. The event was officially opened by the Deputy Ambassador of the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Maria Renata Hutagalung, and included various performances, culinary delights, and cultural showcases. Over the two days, attendees were treated to a variety of cultural attractions.

"This event is routinely held in Fukuoka City as a platform to promote the rich culture of the archipelago. It's evident that local residents have a keen interest in our culture and cuisine. Many Japanese nationals set up booths selling Indonesian dishes like rendang and nasi goreng. We strive to provide full support for such activities, including issuing 501 passports for Indonesian citizens in Fukuoka and its surroundings," explained the Immigration Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Arya Pradhana Anggakara.

Additionally, as part of the event, the Indonesian Embassy team in Tokyo offered consular technical services, arrival registration, document legalization, and participated in a public expo by providing immigration information and other services. They also conducted outreach on various immigration policies, such as the seven types of Golden Visas and the Electronic Visa on Arrival (E-VOA), and distributed souvenirs themed around Indonesian culture. Angga added, "We hope our presence facilitates services for Indonesian citizens in the Fukuoka area and its vicinity."

Such outreach services offer convenient access, time efficiency, and cost savings for Indonesian citizens around Fukuoka, considering the considerable distance to Tokyo. The event garnered high enthusiasm, with over 2,000 attendees and participation from Japanese citizens, indicating a significant interest in Indonesian culture. The Indonesia Festival Fukuoka 2024 marks an important step in strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and Japan, opening opportunities for beneficial cooperation for both parties.
