Silmy Karim: Immigration Services Made Easier with the Opening of the Senayan City Immigration Lounge
JAKARTA - Following the successful launch of the first Immigration Lounge at Pondok Indah Mall (PIM) 3 last June, the Directorate General of Immigration (DGI) has opened a new immigration service unit on the 6th floor of Senayan City Mall as of Monday, September 30, 2024. This service aims to provide greater convenience for those looking to apply for passports quickly and efficiently, including weekend options. At the Immigration Lounge, the passport application process is streamlined, and applicants can complete their applications in just one hour.
The Director General of Immigration, Silmy Karim, stated that the new Immigration Lounge at Senayan City, operated by the Central Jakarta Immigration Office, specializes in expedited electronic passports. Prospective applicants must first register through the M-Passport Application. The lounge has a daily quota of 50 applicants.
The Senayan City Immigration Lounge operates from 08:00 to 16:00 WIB on weekdays and from 08:00 to 14:00 WIB on weekends.
"The establishment of the Immigration Lounge represents an innovative step by the immigration office to bring services closer to the community. Here, individuals can handle their passport needs quickly and conveniently while enjoying quality time with family or having recreational activities at the mall, especially on weekends. This service is particularly beneficial for those in the capital who may not have the time to manage passport applications during the week or who need urgent assistance," explained Silmy Karim.
Silmy also noted that applicants who complete the interview process and biometric data recording will receive a notification when their passports are ready, typically within an hour.
"While waiting, applicants can explore the mall or relax in the Immigration Lounge with snacks and drinks provided," he added.
Silmy emphasized, "Government public services must adapt to societal developments and demands. We cannot remain static; we must continue to evolve and improve. Convenience, ease, and speed should be the pillars of public services in Indonesia."
