Silmy Karim: Jagratara Operation – Immigration's Commitment to Ensuring Compliance Among Foreign Nationals

DENPASAR - The Director General of Immigration (DGI) launched a series of "Jagratara" Immigration Supervision operations with a roll call at Benoa Harbor, Denpasar, Bali, on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. The event was attended by the Acting Governor of Bali, SM Mahendra Jaya; Chairman of the Bali DPRD, Dewa Jack; and Bali Police Chief Inspector General Pol. Daniel Adityajaya. 125 immigration personnel, including Civil Servant Immigration Investigators, Patrol Officers, and Immigration Border Control Officers, participated in the operation. The Jagratara Operation is a coordinated effort by immigration officers to monitor foreigners across Indonesia.

"This Jagratara Operation marks the conclusion of our activities in 2024. This year, we have conducted two simultaneous operations to oversee foreign nationals throughout Indonesia. The Jagratara Operation was initiated in response to the challenges posed by the increasing number of foreigners in Indonesia, particularly in the tourism and investment sectors. Intensive supervision is essential to ensure that every foreigner complies with Indonesia's immigration regulations. We aim to attract quality travelers," stated Director General of Immigration Silmy Karim during the opening events of Operation Jagratara.

To prepare for the Jagratara Operation, the Directorate of Immigration Supervision and Enforcement has instructed immigration offices across Indonesia to enhance their oversight. This supervision will consider security stability and risk mitigation. Officers identifying potential violations can take immediate action against non-compliant foreigners under applicable regulations.

To further support immigration supervision, the Directorate General of Immigration symbolically handed over 20 new patrol vehicles (out of 265 patrol vehicles) to immigration offices in Bali, enhancing mobility for field operations. The allocation of patrol vehicles has been tailored to the concentration of foreign nationals in each region. With these new facilities and infrastructure, immigration authorities can respond more swiftly and cover a broader operational area.

"Our goal is to ensure that Indonesia is a welcoming destination for tourists and foreign investors who respect the rules. Additionally, effective immigration supervision aims to create a safe environment for the Indonesians, particularly against transnational crimes and any disturbances to public order caused by foreigners," concluded the Director General of Immigration.
