Silmy Karim: Lapor Gayeng, Central Java Immigration Offices Collaborate to Serve 2024 Passport Applicants
SURAKARTA – The Directorate General of Immigration (DGI) organized "Lapor Gayeng" (Central Java Immigration Sympathetic Passport Service) on the weekend of 5-6 October 2024, at Sarkara Hall The Tjolomadoe, Surakarta, Central Java. During this event, 20 service booths were available, with a quota set for 2024 applicants. The officers consisted of personnel from six immigration offices under the Central Java Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office, including the Surakarta Immigration Office, Semarang Immigration Office, Pemalang Immigration Office, Pati Immigration Office, Cilacap Immigration Office, and Wonosobo Immigration Office.
"Lapor Gayeng is our response to public needs, especially given the high demand for passport processing," explained the Director General of Immigration, Silmy Karim. "We have scheduled this service on weekends from 08:00 to 17:00 to accommodate everyone who wants to apply for their passports."
The types of applications handled at Lapor Gayeng include new passport applications and replacements for expired passports. Individuals wishing to apply for a passport at this event must register online via a Google Form provided by the organizers, although registration is now closed.
"Lapor Gayeng also offers a priority walk-in service for pregnant women, infants, and the elderly, allowing them to come directly without prior registration. Additionally, on Sunday, October 6, we opened the service to everyone on a walk-in basis," Silmy added.
With the enthusiastic response from the community, Silmy expressed hope that similar services would be offered periodically across Indonesia so that more people could experience the convenience of immigration services. "I encourage the organization of similar events regularly, particularly in areas with high demand for passports, to help reduce the waiting lists at Immigration Offices. Good job, Central Java!" concluded Silmy.
