Press Release: Ministry of Immigration and Corrections Conducts Community Service Across Indonesia

JAKARTA – The Ministry of Immigration and Corrections is conducting simultaneous community service activities at all immigration offices, detention centres, and correctional institutions today, Friday (29/11/2024). The Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Agus Andrianto, stated that this initiative is part of the Ministry's 13 Acceleration Programs to support the President of the Republic of Indonesia's vision for improving community welfare.

"This community service initiative is one of our acceleration programs to meet the President's directives. Through this activity, we aim to demonstrate that the Ministry not only implements policies but also actively engages with the community to provide tangible assistance," said Minister Agus.

The Ministry, primarily through the Directorate General of Immigration (DGI), serves as a strategic facilitator for community development, not only through policies that promote economic growth—such as visa facilitation for investments and the new zero-rupiah passport policy for prospective Indonesian migrant workers—but also through initiatives that directly benefit the community.

During this event, the Minister and his staff distributed more than 14,000 free nutritious food packages tailored to the community's needs. This activity will occur regularly every Friday, targeting underprivileged groups surrounding their offices.

"We hope the community can directly feel the government's presence. We will continue to advocate for initiatives like this as part of our efforts to build a more prosperous Indonesia," concluded Agus Andrianto.
