Soekarno-Hatta Immigration Services Ranked Among the Top 10 Best in the World

JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Immigration through Soekarno-Hatta Immigration Office received the 10th place award for the Best Airport Immigration Services in the World for 2025 according to Skytrax, an independent flight inspection agency based in London, England. This information was released on the official Skytrax World Airport Awards website (https://www.worldairportawards.com/worlds-best-airport-immigration-2025/). The website explains that the evaluation for the Best Airport Immigration Services includes various aspects such as arrivals and departures, immigration services and border control, including waiting times, queue systems, priority lanes, the e-gate system (automated gates), as well as the efficiency and politeness of immigration staff.

The Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Agus Andrianto, said that this achievement marks a new historical milestone for the Directorate General of Immigration. This is a form of using technology and innovation in Indonesia’s immigration services, especially at international airports.

"My highest appreciation goes to the achievements made by Soekarno-Hatta Immigration (Soetta) in entering the top 10 Best Airport Immigration Services in the World. This achievement is the result of the hard work put in by the immigration officers at Soetta Airport. Many challenges have been faced by the team at the Immigration Checkpoint (TPI) at Soetta. Despite the long holidays, the officers continued to work for the smooth flow of passengers. Their tasks are not easy, and require great dedication. Alhamdulillah, all of this has yielded results, bringing pride to Indonesia," said Minister Agus, Friday (11/04/2025).

Meanwhile, Acting Director General of Immigration, Saffar Muhammad Godam, explained that the Directorate General of Immigration is implementing a digitalization program to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of services at airports and international ports. One of the technologies used is the autogate, which allows passengers to experience a seamless process with an inspection time of only 10-15 seconds per crossing.

"Autogates at Indonesian international airports also serve foreign nationals (WNA) and even children aged six and above. This is made possible with the availability of Indonesia's electronic visa (eVisa) and increasingly sophisticated face recognition technology," said Godam.

The autogate system is integrated with border control management (BCM) and Interpol data. To date, autogates have been implemented at several main checkpoints in Indonesia, including Soekarno-Hatta Airport, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Kualanamu Airport, Juanda Airport, and Batam Center Port, totaling 264 units. This number will continue to grow to optimize the immigration inspection process at airports and major ports.

Agus also mentioned that, in addition to utilizing the latest technology, the Immigration team at airports and ports also works on optimizing passenger flow during critical times, such as school holidays, Idulfitri, and Christmas and New Year. This ensures that passenger traffic remains smooth and there are no buildups.

Throughout 2024, Soekarno-Hatta Immigration served a total of 17,166,177 crossings, consisting of 8,615,937 departures and 8,550,240 arrivals. Meanwhile, from January 1 to April 10, 2025, the number of crossings at Soekarno-Hatta Airport was 4,987,378, consisting of 2,473,802 departures and 2,513,576 arrivals.

"We hope this achievement will motivate all Immigration officers in Indonesia to continue improving service quality. In the future, we will continue to innovate, introduce new systems, and maintain professionalism to provide the best service for the public and international travelers," concluded Minister Agus.
