Immigration Apprehends US Citizen for Producing Pornographic Content in Indonesia

JAKARTA – The Directorate General of Immigration (Ditjen Imigrasi) successfully apprehended Taylor Kirby Whitemore (TKW), a United States citizen, for immigration offenses and proven violation of the Pornography Law on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. The foreign national (WNA) has now been named a suspect and has been detained at the Class I Central Jakarta State Detention Center (Rutan) since Friday, May 16, 2025.

TKW's arrest was based on the results of an investigation by Cyber Patrol Officers from the Ditjen Imigrasi's Digital Forensics Team, which commenced on February 17, 2025. Officers discovered posts on an X account (formerly Twitter) with the username @oliver_woodx. The account was found to be promoting paid pornographic content and was linked to a Telegram forum for transactions of similar content. During initial monitoring, Immigration officers strongly suspected that the videos being promoted were produced within Indonesian territory.

"Cyber Patrol Officers then conducted identification using facial recognition technology integrated with the immigration system. As a result, the account owner was identified as Taylor Kirby Whitemore, a holder of a visit stay permit residing in Bali. He was then placed on a travel ban list to prevent him from leaving Indonesian territory.

On March 25, 2025, TKW was successfully apprehended by the Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement Team (Inteldakim) of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office as he was about to leave Indonesia for Kuala Lumpur on Malindo Air flight OD172," explained the Acting Director General of Immigration, Yuldi Yusman, on Wednesday (21/05/2025).

Subsequently, TKW was transferred to the Detention Room of the Directorate General of Immigration on April 9, 2025, for further examination. From the digital forensic examination of TKW's mobile devices, evidence was found confirming that the X and Telegram accounts belonged to him, and that there was pornographic video content produced in Indonesia.

"TKW violated Article 122 letter a of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration, namely, any Foreigner who intentionally misuses or engages in activities not in accordance with the purpose of the Stay Permit granted to him, shall be punished with a maximum imprisonment of 5 (five) years and a maximum fine of Rp500,000,000.00 (five hundred million rupiah)," Yuldi added.

He emphasized Ditjen Imigrasi's commitment to upholding immigration law and safeguarding the nation's dignity from all forms of violations by foreigners in Indonesia. From January to April, 32 individuals have been processed for trial.

"The cyber patrols intensified by Ditjen Imigrasi are our initiative to apprehend misbehaving foreign nationals, which is increasingly concerning with the growing exchange of information through social media. We are constantly exploring loopholes that could potentially be exploited by irresponsible foreign nationals to carry out their actions that violate Indonesian regulations," he concluded.

Regarding TKW's arrest, the Minister of Immigration and Correctional Facilities, Agus Andrianto, stated that his party would not tolerate actions by foreign nationals that cause unrest in Indonesia.

"Especially those related to violations of decency norms that corrupt the nation's future generations. Anyone living in this country must comply with the applicable laws," Agus affirmed.
