Immigration Secures Australian National Suspected of Shooting in Bali

JAKARTA – The Directorate General of Immigration (Ditjen Imigrasi) has apprehended an Australian national  suspected of involvement in the shooting of an Australian national in Bali on Monday (June 16, 2025). The man, identified by his initials DFJ, 27 years old, was apprehended by immigration officers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport at 06:25 AM WIB as he was about to leave Indonesia for Singapore, with Cambodia as his final destination. DFJ was unable to cross out of Indonesia because the light on the autogate showed red, indicating that he was on the immigration's blacklist. Officers then apprehended DFJ and contacted the Directorate General of Immigration for further handling. DFJ was successfully apprehended thanks to an urgent travel ban requested by Interpol Indonesia.

"This arrest proves that our autogate is a reliable solution for efficient passenger crossings with the best security," explained the Acting (Plt) Director General of Immigration, Yuldi Yusman.

Previously, on Saturday (June 14, 2025), at around 00:15 WITA, two Australian nationals became victims of a brutal shooting by unknown perpetrators (OTK) at a villa in the Banjar Sedahan area, Badung Regency, Bali. One of the shooting victims died on the spot, while the other sustained serious injuries.
Following the arrest, at 10:00 AM WIB on the same day, the Sub-directorate of Immigration Supervision Team along with the Interpol Indonesia Team immediately picked up DFJ and brought him to the Directorate General of Immigration Building for further examination. Based on the examination, DFJ was strongly indicated to be involved in the shooting of the Australian national in Bali. Therefore, DFJ was then processed to be handed over to the Badung Resort Police.

"In accordance with our duties and functions, we handed DFJ over to the police for examination and follow-up on the alleged criminal act he committed," Yuldi continued.

After a series of coordinations, at 10:00 PM WIB, the Badung Resort Police team led by Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Muhammad Said Husein arrived at the Directorate General of Immigration. Thirty minutes later, a Handover Report (BAST) was conducted to take DFJ to Bali for further legal proceedings.
Responding to this, the Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Agus Andrianto, stated: "The arrest of DFJ demonstrates the effectiveness of Immigration and Interpol coordination, as well as the crucial role of technology and inter-agency collaboration in maintaining state security and sovereignty," Agus concluded
