Immigration Foils 294 Foreigners Suspected of Violating Regulations During Simultaneous "Wira Waspada" Operation 2025

JAKARTA – The Directorate General of Immigration (Ditjen Imigrasi) conducted a nationwide simultaneous foreign national supervision operation, dubbed "Wira Waspada," from July 15 to 17, 2025. During the operation, which took place at 2,098 checkpoints across Indonesia, immigration officers inspected 2,022 foreign nationals (WNA). The inspections revealed that 294 foreign nationals were indicated to have violated existing Indonesian immigration regulations.

Most of the foreign nationals inspected were from the People's Republic of China (PRC), totaling 1,143 individuals, followed by South Koreans (156), Japanese (81), Indians (74), and Malaysians (71). Filipinos accounted for 60 individuals, Americans 46, Thais 39, Dutch 29, and Yemenis 28.

Based on their type of stay permit, the majority of foreign nationals inspected, 1,581 individuals, were in Indonesia with Limited Stay Permits. Another 326 individuals used Visit Stay Permits, while the remainder consisted of Permanent Stay Permit holders (42), UNHCR asylum seekers (43), illegal immigrants (12), and 16 foreign nationals who had no stay permit at all.

The most common type of immigration violation found was misuse of stay permits, with 148 cases. Additionally, there were 34 cases where foreign nationals could not produce travel documents or stay permits when requested by officers. Other violations included overstaying (29 cases), addresses not matching their stay permits or failure to report a change of address (25 cases), and the use of fictitious sponsors (8 cases).

The Acting Director General of Immigration, Yuldi Yusman, explained that the 294 foreign nationals indicated to have committed violations are currently undergoing further examination. If the violation falls solely within the scope of immigration law, the foreign nationals will be directly sanctioned according to the Immigration Law. However, if there are suspicions of a general criminal offense, the foreign nationals concerned will be handed over to the authorities.

"We conduct this operation routinely and simultaneously to ensure there is no room for foreign nationals who violate regulations to stay in Indonesia. This is a form of our commitment to maintaining state sovereignty and ensuring that every foreign national in Indonesia complies with all applicable legal provisions," he concluded.
