Immigration Arrests Moroccan Fugitive for Child Abduction and Violence

Jakarta – The Directorate General of Immigration successfully arrested a Moroccan fugitive, NE, in Jakarta on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. NE was a wanted individual by the Royal Moroccan Police for the crimes of theft, violence, child abduction, and deprivation of parental custody.

The arrest was based on International Arrest Warrant Number 2024/45, issued on May 28, 2025. This apprehension was a follow-up to a request from the International Relations Division (Divhubinter) of the National Police on July 8, 2025, which asked the Directorate General of Immigration to search for, prevent, and arrest NE. Based on border crossing data, NE was known to have been in Indonesia since May 1, 2025. He entered through Lombok using a visit visa, which was later converted into an Investor Limited Stay Permit Card (KITAS) with an address in East Jakarta.

"This fugitive was very elusive and constantly on the move. Thanks to the close coordination between our team and the National Police, we successfully tracked NE's movements, from Lombok until we finally arrested him in Jakarta," said Acting Director General of Immigration, Yuldi Yusman.

To conduct the search, the Investigation Sub-directorate Team of the Directorate of Immigration Surveillance and Enforcement (Dit. Wasdakim) of the Directorate General of Immigration checked the address listed on NE's stay permit. The team also conducted a search in the Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTT) area. From the investigation, the team obtained information that NE was still in Lombok with his two children. After some time, NE was finally apprehended using tracking and surveillance methods while he was traveling to Jakarta on August 19, 2025.

Following the arrest, Dit. Wasdakim immediately coordinated with Divhubinter of the National Police and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco for Indonesia. The deportation process was then carried out on August 21, 2025, where NE was repatriated to Morocco via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

"The success of this arrest and deportation shows the strong commitment of the Directorate General of Immigration to combat transnational crime. We will continue to enhance coordination and collaboration with law enforcement agencies, both domestically and abroad, to maintain state sovereignty and create a sense of security for the public," the Acting Director General of Immigration affirmed.
